…sightseeing (via running)

since my favorite way to sightsee is via running, sara was nice enough to map out a nice little long run for me on saturday morning, which took me from her capitol hill apartment, down to the capitol…past the original smithsonian and the national gallery of art…then to the washington monument…all the way down the mall, and of course had to stop and see the ww2 memorial and say a few prayers for grandpa a…...and then i made my way down next to the reflecting pool to the lincoln memorial ….then did a nice loop around it and down the arlington memorial bridge, and then allllll the way back to sara!i really don’t think theres any other way to sightsee, and i absolutely loved all 9 miles of it! it was the prefect way to start an amazing saturday in an awesome city…

…the lakefront path, part 2

i never thought any run would beat my favorite running path in san francisco… but the lakefront trail sure is coming close… can’t beat an 8 mile run in this beautiful fall weather, with fall foliage AND beautiful scenery… (photos edited using my instagram iphone app..)

ummmm… how is it october 1? and what happened to september (i’ll come back to that)? seriously…!

however, there are lots of reasons to love october…

…my amazing sister/best friend/first roomie ever’s birthday!!!

…lots more sweaters and boots!

…tons of pumpkin EVERYTHING and every kind of squash imaginable (clearly not the first to blog a love of squash/pumpkin) <insert many yummy recipes here.>

…halloween! (obvi)- who doesn’t love little kiddies in costume!?!?!

…beautiful, colorful, crunchy leaves EVERYWHERE! so fun for running…. and PERFECT RUNNING WEATHER!

…oh yea, AND most of the things i love about september are still around in october! 🙂





…tricking your body into doing abnormal things

…sooooo one of my favorite lines when i’m teaching is “SMILE! send the neurons to your brain that you having fun!!!”

(miss lila always makes me smile! :))

(yes, i actually get a good amount of chuckles and smiles when i say that too).

and i’ve been thinking about that lately… and all the ways i trick my body into doing things it wouldn’t normally do…

…like waking up at 4:30 am twice a week to teach said classes- honestly it’s not as bad now that i’m used to it (and can’t sleep past 5 on the weekends either)

…like telling myself my vegan chocolate chip cookies are just as good as my world’s best recipe (they are really good though)

…like running 11 miles when i’ve set out for 8, due to losing myself in chit chat with a good friend along the lakefront trail(hey mariss!)

…like getting excited for wednesdays… because once its wednesday, that means it’s almost thursday, and then once its thursday, its basically friday, which means its basically the weekend…. what?!?!?

i guess its all about perspective, isn’t it?

ok, so i found the cowardly lion!!!

funnily enough, my “normal” running path passes him EVERY TIME, i have just never been aware of my surroundings enough (bad tina) to notice he was there!!!! now i just need to track down/ take pics of the scarecrow and the tin man! 🙂
